CALL FOR PAPERS
“First International e Interdisciplinary Conference on Poetry, Poetics, and Travel Literature on Deserts of the World”
July 7-11, 2008
PARRAS (Estado de COAHUILA), MEXICO
The organizers of the “First International e Interdisciplinary Conference on Poetry, Poetics, and Travel Literature on Desert of the World”, invite Hispanic poets who reside in Europe and the Americas, as well as academic specialists within the field of poetry, to participate in this extraordinary poetic and travel literature on deserts of the world encounter, in one of the most beautiful oasis in Northern México Desert: Parras. The Conference will take place in the old Hacienda El Perote in Parras. We wish the event to be an open dialogue between poets and academics from different parts of the world. Papers or poetry readings should not exceed 20 minutes.
The conference will only allow for one presentation per participant.

We invite all specialists, professionals, and graduate students interested in the field of Poetry, Poetics, and Travel Literature of the Deserts of the World to submit papers for consideration.
Papers may be submitted in English or Spanish.
Reading of the papers should not exceed 20 minutes (8 pages double spaced, 2000 words approximately).
We also invite panels. Panel chairs should send abstracts of participants.
Note: Selected papers and poems will be considered for publication in the Conference proceedings.
The Conference will take place July 7-11, 2008.
Pre and post activities are scheduled. Reduced rates for food and lodging will be available at the Web Site of the Conference. Precise information will follow.
Deadlines:
May 23, 2008 Abstract (one page maximum, English or Spanish).
May 30, 2008 Committee’s deadline to select abstracts for this conference.

Registration Fees:
$100 US Dollars- for USA, Canada, and European participants.
$50 US Dollars- for Latin American participants, and others.
For papers or readings to be considered for inclusion in the official Conference Program, please send an abstract/proposal (one page maximum) and a short Curriculum Vitae in English or Spanish by no later than 23 May, 2008 either by mail, e-mail.
